Arsen Hajian, Ph.D. Chief Executive Officer

Arsen is the founder and CEO of Hindsight Imaging, Inc. Arsen Hajian is a serial entrepreneur who has been specializing in high-performance optical instruments for many industries for over the past 20 years. Arsen has technical expertise in Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), spectroscopic instrumentation and analysis, with a background rooted in radio astronomy, however his specialty is solving demanding customer applications utilizing these diverse technical skills. Dr. Hajian is the founder and former CTO of five companies (3 biomedical, 2 instrumentation). Most notable are: Perimeter Medical Imaging which used OCT for cancerous tumor margin assessment during surgery, Tornado Spectral Systems which is advancing process monitoring using high performance spectroscopy platforms, and ClearMRI which developed a novel digital Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) platform. Prior to his commercial career, Arsen was a professor at the University of Waterloo in Canada and a former civil servant at the US Naval Observatory. Dr. Hajian has been granted multiple patents for sensor hardware suites for a variety of industries. He completed his undergraduate at MIT and received his doctorate from Cornell University.

Erik Deutsch, Ph.D. Chief  Operations Officer

Erik is an innovative and business-focused senior engineering executive and entrepreneur with demonstrated experience leading the strategic development of diverse new and existing technologies and bringing disruptive products to market and volume manufacturing. Erik has expertise in the development of OEM and system level solutions utilizing a diverse range of technologies: Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCL’s), Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR), and MicroElectro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS). Expertise in Optics, Lasers, MEMS, and system level packaging. Spectroscopy expertise in surface, liquid, and gas detection products using multiple technologies for academic, commercial, and industrial applications in oil and gas, medical, life science, life safety, and military markets. Erik was previously Vice President of Engineering at Block MEMS / Block Engineering. At Block, he led all aspects of technology, product and business development in QCL’s, FTIR spectrometers and MEMS. He was also the co-founder of Polychromix, a pioneer in telecommunications and handheld optical MEMS spectrometer development – since sold to ThermoFisher Scientific. One of Erik’s MEMS-enabled spectrometers was used to detect water on the moon during the NASA LCROSS mission. Erik holds numerous patents in advanced optical and MEMS technologies and products. He received a B.A. in Physics from Vassar College and S.M. and Ph.D. degrees from MIT.

Joe Huehnerhoff, M.S. Director Systems Engineering

Joseph Huehnerhoff is an expert in optical and mechanical design. He was previously an Instrumentation Scientist in Astronomy at the University of Washington. In that role, he led the development of the ARCTIC imaging camera for the Apache Point Observatory 3.5 meter telescope. Joseph was also Lead Infrastructure Engineer for the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, developing robust telescopic systems for continuous survey operations. Joseph’s undergraduate degrees are in Physics and Astronomy and he holds an M.S. in Physics of opto-mechanical systems.
